Our Story

Lebanese Avocado was founded on September 4, 2014, by Mohamad Hijazi, a once self-made farmer who became one of Lebanon’s leading producers of sustainably farmed avocados. With over 30 years of hands-on experience and continuous self-education, Mr. Hijazi developed expertise in avocado cultivation and became a published author and consultant in the field. His dedication helped transform avocado farming in Lebanon, increasing production to 400 tonnes annually and expanding exports to the Middle East and Europe. What began as a cultivation-focused initiative has now evolved into a full-scale agribusiness. Today, Lebanese Avocado produces high-quality fruit and oversees post-harvest handling, coordinates with partners for packing and export logistics, prepares avocados for sale, exports to international markets, and manages direct sales to buyers and wholesalers. The company actively collaborates with other farmers to expand supply and shares its expertise through consulting and training programs. Despite global concerns over avocado sustainability, Lebanese Avocado stands out through its responsible farming practices and unwavering commitment to premium quality.

The company has partnered with international funders and earned the prestigious Global G.A.P certificate, emphasizing sustainable agricultural practices. We are actively engaged in export operations, distributing avocados to markets across the Middle East, Russia, and Europe. Additionally, Lebanese Avocado manages avocado nurseries in the south of Lebanon and prioritizes quality assurance in delivering intact, clean, and undamaged avocados to customers.

Our Goals

• Technical Assistance: Provide technical assistance to 70% of avocado farmers across Lebanon, spanning from north to south, within a 5-year timeframe.
• Export Expansion: Within the next five years, we aim to boost our export volume to Europe and beyond, striving for over 70% of our total avocado production to reach international markets. 
• Meeting Market Demand: Address the rising demand for avocados in Europe by enhancing avocado production in Lebanon and our workers conditions by obtaining Obtain GRASP (GlobalG.A.P. Risk Assessment on Social Practice) certification, aiming to meet market needs effectively.
• Promotion of Avocado Cultivation: Actively promote and encourage avocado cultivation throughout Lebanon to contribute to the industry’s growth.
• Production Maximization: Anticipate reaching a production volume of 1000 tons of avocados over the next five years, contributing to local and international markets.
• Responsible Farming: We aim to obtain an Organic certification, affirming dedication to sustainable agriculture and providing consumers with the highest-quality, environmentally-friendly produce.
